Well, another year is coming to an end.
Guess that means another page in my yearly news archives. That
large period at the beginning of the year when I didn't have my computer
really put a dent in these things. Anyway, in recent events
I've taken up a project to make a web based photo system/album.
I'm pulling out all the stops on this one. Even got a new book
on professional PHP projects to use as a reference. Over 850
pages of PHP goodness. Hopefully, by the time I'm done, I'll
have something that will eventually be worth selling to the public.
Probably going to take a version or two to get it right though.
In the meantime, I'll be happy when I get version 1.0 done.
That at least will have the functionality, if not the graphic prowess.
Unfortunately, this means that all my other hobbies/projects must
be put on hold. Ninja Bunny and Flash in general will be taking
a back seat to this one, mostly because I know at least the PHP project
is something I'll be able to finish and be happy with. My success
with Flash is limited. But that's just my opinion and since
I'm the writer and director, among other things, it's the only one
that counts. Not to say I don't appreciate good, constructive
comments about my work, it's just that projects I know I can finish
usually take priority. I don't intend on abandoning my Flash
work all together, just keep in on hold for a bit longer.
That's it for this year. Thanks for visiting. Your the
reason any of this is even here.
November 13th, 2003 - Recent News
Recently, I changed the way I hosted websites
and signed up two subscribers. They have there own sub-domains
and are listed on the Subscribers page. As for me, recently
I've been teaching myself PHP and have had some excellent success.
I'll probably add a page dedicated to my PHP projects. My
first, and resoundingly successful, project I've done for the
Real Life web comic
done by Greg Dean. I'm very happy with the results, so much
so, that I'm thinking about laying down the ground work for my
own bulletin board system. I've wanted one for my site and
I see no reason to pay for one if I can make one myself.
Though, this is most definitely a long term project. As far
as my work with Flash is going, basically it's on hold. I
think I took it in the wrong direction. I've given some thought
to revert to the original art style to make my movie instead, rather
than try and make something that I'm obviously having a difficult
time doing. The down side, is that I can only have so many
projects going at one time. With both the movie and the BBS
being full time projects, I have to decide which one I want to
work on. That is truly not an easy decision to make.
I'll have to decide soon though, they'll never get done if I just
procrastinate. Anyway, that's the most recent news.
August 13th, 2003 - A Much Needed Update
I really should update this more often.
Anyway, here's where I stand as of right now. My web hosting
service is all but dead, with the exception of two subscribers
(see Subscribers page) and my Gateway server is all but sold off.
My move is over and I need some extra money to help with costs,
now that I'm living in an apartment. Oh well, it was a good
idea at the time.
I recently found that I had some artistic ability after all.
My recent work with flash has been slow at best, due to my job
and the fact that I'm always changing hobbies. However, I'm
determined to finish at least one movie that's longer than one
minute. It's just taking longer than I expected. Other
than that, my new job is eating up much more time than it was supposed
to. When I arrived to start my job, I had found out that
I had already been transferred to another department. The
department I was transferred to requires a lot more of my free
time. I'm less than thrilled about that. But, there's
nothing I can do about it, so why get mad. It's putting a
crimp on my personal projects though. So, if your waiting
for me to finish something or do something, blame my job if you
want to blame something.
That's it for this update, I'll try and keep this more up to date.
Thanks for visiting.
March 9th, 2003 - Server Changes
I've decided to take a more professional
approach to my web server and move it to a web hosting service.
My website is now hosted by Aplus.net web hosting service.
I still need to work out some details with how my subscribers
will access there pages, but I'm getting there. The biggest
reason I moved my web server is so that I could guarantee uptime,
which is crucial for many websites. As for my other server,
Gateway's support was, to say the least, less than satisfactory.
I plan on selling it and buying a better server from a more reliable
company, one with a better track record with servers. Overall,
I believe that this is a good step towards providing better service
for my subscribers.
